The Suspended Kiss

This is the foundational painting that originated my entire Crimson & Scarlet series, holding a deeply personal and pivotal place in my practice. It is also the piece featured on the cover of Arpád Šoltész's novel The Swine, published by Clio. The composition captures two soft, pink and white figures frozen in the exact second right before a kiss - the precise moment before skin touches skin. They emerge against a heavy, dark background rendered in deep crimson and near-Indian red tones. For me, there is a captivating mystery to this piece every time I look at it: a feeling of suspended time where we cannot know whether this moment resolves in a passionate embrace or fades into quiet distance. It explores the thrilling, uncertain threshold of expectation, desire, and emotional tension right before connection happens.
