Root of Bark

Exhibition Overview

At the joint exhibition "Root of Bark" (Koren kora), held at Gallery 73 in July 2022 alongside Sara Lazarević, I explored the cyclical patterns of life, organic structures, and the deep structural connections between nature and human existence. For this exhibition, I presented a selection of works stemming from my master's studies in painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. In my drawings, I focused primarily on exploring the diverse textures and linear rhythms of olive tree bark. Alongside these, through sculptural objects titled "Petrified Wood," I investigated raw structures and textures by shaping forms out of charred wood in an abstract manner, capturing the primal forms of roots and bark as metaphors for emotional grounding, memory, and personal identity. Through expressive brushstrokes and layered mediums, these works bridge the gap between internal psychological landscapes and raw natural elements.
